Yoga Nidra or meditation: what would you like to explore?
Meditation covers many practices, while Yoga Nidra is a more specific guided-rest approach. This is not a contest between opposites. Ask what happens in a particular meeting, which position you use and how much spoken guidance there is. Choose around the experience you want to explore rather than the more appealing name.

Vedrana’s description of Yoga Nidra
Initial breathing and gentle exercises lead into lying rest with voice and music. Sankalpa, a personal intention, is included. The published format is individual or group, in person, lasting 90 minutes. Previous yoga practice is not required to enquire.
What to ask about meditation
If meditation interests you within another meeting, ask whether it uses voice, silence, imagery or another focus. Check whether you sit or lie down and whether this can change. One word in a programme does not tell you everything. Do not assume crossed legs or uninterrupted concentration are required.
Choose around your wishes
If you enjoy listening and resting, explore Yoga Nidra. If another way of directing attention interests you, ask what Vedrana offers. You can explain that closing your eyes feels uncomfortable or that you want more explanation beforehand. This helps the arrangement without defining your personality.
One question for the next step
Try: “I would like to explore guided rest but do not know how it differs from meditation I already know. Could you describe the beginning?” A specific answer helps more than searching for a universally best technique.
